Happy Valentine’s Day-Family Photography with Flowers

Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your family!! Here are my little loves doing what they do best… Playing busily. We had so much fun putting this photography shoot together, from planning our wardrobe to cutting and gluing felt roses to “planting” the flowers in the open field to pick. I let my children help me and they loved it. And I was rewarded by pleasant faces instead of the scowls my camera often brings to their faces. ;)

Valentine’s Day Marshmallow Heart Children’s Inspiration Shoot

I planned to do some fun Valentine’s Day inspired shoots this year, and when I was grocery shopping with my own three kiddos in Walmart a few weeks ago, I knew that I wanted to use these fun heart marshmallows for one of the photo sessions. I had to explain my purchase to my own children in such a way that they understood that they would not be consuming these sweet treats, but rather my photography subjects would. Which, of course, made them want their own pictures taken. =) I’ll post that shoot later.

Most certainly, heart marshmallows bring a lot of great smiles to the faces of children! And these kiddos are so cute with their big brown eyes and spunky personalities.

I don’t do a lot of newborn sessions. To be honest I’m just more used to loud, wiggly kiddos that are a little bit older and run around in the sunshine outdoors. But last week I was honored to be asked to do a newborn session, indoors. With sweet baby Caroline. Sleepy, new smelling, pink, perfect baby Caroline. Doing something different than my normal stretched me a bit. And I loved it.

On to the pictures.

Fall Mini Sessions

It is the time of the year to get some portraits done for your holiday cards! Need a picture where you all look good? I can help with that! =)

I’m offering Fall Mini Sessions at Olde Union Preserve. Email me for the exact location. We’re aiming to have some pretty red and yellow leaves in the background.

November 3rd and 4th. 8:30 – 10:00 am and 4:00 – 6:00 pm.

I’ve got two options for your mini session fun…

$150
20 minutes of photos
10 edited digital photo downloads (you can choose the pictures)
fun props to use or ignore with a Christmas-ish sort of theme

$200
20 minutes of photos
ALL of your photos, edited and ready to download (probably 20-30 images)
fun props to use

Session fee due to reserve your session time.

I got to shoot sweet, pretty Tori this summer. She’s incredibly graceful. I, on the other hand, am not. So it was fun for me to watch this combination of grace and strength come together to pose so beautifully. Having never worked with a ballet dancer before, I was surprised at how quick her motions were and how fast I had to set my shutter speed to catch her at the peak of her movements. We braved the midday summer heat and got some great photos!

Wonder what has happened to Dearly Loved Photography this spring?

In late March my website got hacked. We had gotten little bits of being hacked before, with a virus hidden in one of the pixels on the homepage. But awesome webguy and husband Drewie Cakes was always able to find a workaround to fix it. Not this time! The virus started emailing people from the Dearly Loved Photography website and so Drew had to erase everything to get it under control. So he did.

A word of advice to you WordPress users… DO NOT use EASY admin logins or passwords. Or even sort-of-easy ones. Customize your admin login and make the password so hard you can’t even remember it, and sticky-note it somewhere in your office. A fairly easy password and a username of “admin” got me in to all of this mess. And once it was in it took down every single WordPress site we had. Yikes!

So now my old blog has been totally obliterated. But never fear, I will fill this one back up. And I will be smarter and have it backed up as well.

I’ve got a whole new website now. Feel free to browse around and see all the shiny new looks. Oh, and I’m not shooting weddings any more. I’ve made the switch to families, seniors, and still-in-love portrait shoots. I’ve got some really awesome reasons to share this change. And some fun spins I’m putting on to make my family photo shoots less normal. But you’ll have to check back in later for that. =D

And because no photographer’s post really seems complete without a picture…
